An Interfaith Ministry Serving The Downtown Campuses

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them."
Matthew 18:20

Many houses of worship serve students in the downtown Columbus area. As an ecumenical campus ministry, the Downtowners serves college students of all faiths in the downtown Columbus area. To accomplish this, the Downtowners is a member of the Board of Ohio Campus Ministries and the Catholic Conference of Ohio and works with the Chamber of Commerce, Bethlehem on Broad Street, the Associates of the Dominican Sisters of Peace and in Chaplaincy with the Church Women United. Our Executive Director and Campus Minister Dr. Ellen O’Shaughnessy meets annually with Bishop Campbell of the Catholic Diocese of Central Ohio and attends meetings called by the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, the Presbytery of Scioto Valley, the Presbyterian (USA) Synod of the Covenant and the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. In addition to funding from these bodies, the Downtowners receives support from the Dominican Sisters of Peace, St. Joseph Cathedral, Trinity Episcopal and First Congregational. The ministry, housed at Trinity Lutheran Church as an in kind donation, serves as a focal point for churches wishing to sponsor their own events for students or work in conjunction with the Downtowners in developing progams.
